The specialty of Sikirevci is the art of making lace – a motif that has been granted the status of a protected intangible cultural property. Franca Rakitic was the first to work in Sikirevci. Her bed cover, a tarpaulin,that she made in 1928, has been preserved. The Municipality of Sikirevci and the Association ‘Sikirevci Motifs’ cultivate the art of handmade ‘Sun lace motifs’ as a traditional skill, one of the most important preserved in an intact form used to decorate folk attire in the area of the Brodska Posavina. The building of Sikirevci Municipality has a room with exposed specimens of this beautiful lace.
