Hotel kralj Tomislav smjestio se u samom centru Nove Gradiške. Otmjeno ime priliči vanjskom izgledu hotela a ljubazno osoblje pobrinut će se da se za kraljevski tretman tijekom vašeg boravka. Nažalost ovaj put nisam uživala u sauni koji hotel ima u svojoj ponudi nego sam odmah krenula put restorana.

U sklopu restorana nalazi se cafeteria i slastičarna gdje možete popiti kavu uz komad kolača ili torte. Restoran je otvoren za sve goste, ne samo hotelske. Osim što možete doći svaki dan na večeru (jer kuhinja radi od 17h), ovdje možete i prirediti veće domjenke i slavlja jer je prostor prostran. Moram naglasiti kako se u restoranu nalazi i igraonica za najmlađe tako da budite sigurni da u hrani možete uživati u miru.

Kako sam došla malo ranije, imala sam priliku porazgovarati s konobarom koji me je ljubazno dočekao. S oduševljenjem mi je rekao kako u restoranu još uvijek rade stari chefovi koji doista poznaju originalne recepte s kojima se hotel kralj Tomislav ponosi.

Na meniju Okusi nalazi se nekoliko jela a ja sam probala srnetinu u brusnici i vratinu u pivu.

Moram pohvaliti pripremljenu srnetinu. Meso je bilo iznimno mekano i topilo se u ustima.

Pripremom vratine u pivu, ovaj običan komad mesa dobije sasvim drugu dimenziju.

Posjetom ovom restoranu, zaključujemo ovu seriju promocije restorana koji su u sklopu projekta “Okusi graničarskog Posavlja”. Veselimo se novim restoranima koji će postati dio ovog hvale vrijednog projekta i pomoći u promociji slavonske tradicionalne kuhinje!

THE TASTES OF POSAVINA'S FRONTIER

The Brod-Posavina part of Croatia, along with its peaceful villages (one side of which is settled on the Sava River and the other on the plains and the mildly elevated row of vineyard dotted hills which lightly lean on the edges of the forests, where the southern part of the fertile Slavonian plain is drowned in Sava’s River-bed), was always the frontier part of Croatia. Getting to know its peoples, heritage, culture and tradition, is to get to know the warm heart of the Slavonian hospitality...

The story of the food of Slavonia is quite peculiar. It starts with kulen, or kulin, which is prepared from the finest pork and dried and matured for more than half a year after which it reaches the host’s table, alone or accompanied by čvarci or slanina. Another peculiarity is the custom of preparing food (fish, mostly carp) by cooking on an open fire or in one pot, which is the way in which the masters of the local cuisine, to this day, prepare the cult fish paprikaš or čobanac... 

This is just a part of a rich cuisine based on traditional meals that garner attention with their special tastes and smells, and amaze with the artistry and yet simplicity of their preparation. Combined with the elegance and fluttering fine aromas of the top-quality wines from the local vineyards, the cuisine turns every meal into a true pleasure.
